Getting Started: A Step-By-Step Guide

Step One: Create a Player Account (PA). This will be the account where you receive mass PMs, as well as where people will generally message you with questions, plot ideas, and general information, so it's all consolidated in one place. Use whatever name you'd like, from Bob to Captain Awesome, just as long as it's available. This will also be the account you use to do things like sign the Rules. (Step Two).
Step Two: Acquaint yourself with the Rules. It’s very important to read them first. The rules are posted Here. You must sign your name at the bottom, stating you agree and understand - you will not be able to RP until you do. Once you have read and signed the rules for the board, your player account will be set up by an Admin, as soon as possible, with all the relevant permissions.
Step Three: Create a character! This involves creating a Character Account which will be used to interact as a particular character on the board, and is set up in the same way as your player account. Don't worry about having to switch between multiple characters when posting as we have a 'post switching' ability, which will be set up when your player account is activated. Every character must have its own account. Visit the Bio Format thread, and copy the code to fill in the appropriate information.
Once you've done this, you may post it in the Pending Bios section, or if you're working on it, put a (WIP) in the header and post "FINISHED" upon completion, and remove the (WIP). Bios with a (WIP) will not be actioned. Upon approval, an admin will set up the character and move it to the appropriate section.
Step Four: Post a Player Tract. This is your place to list the characters you have. Please remember to keep it up to date every time you have a new character approved.
Step Five: Create an Introduction post. Write a short blurb to introduce yourself to the rest of our community.
Step Six: Get involved in the actual Role Playing experience.
This can be done in a few ways:
- Jump in and get your feet wet by posting an In Character Open Thread for anyone to join - let an admin know when this has been posted and we'll advertise it on the sideboard for better visibility.
- Check out the RP Classifieds section - see if anyone is looking for something specific and reach out to them via PM, cbox or on our Discord
- Post your own Classified - especially if you have something specific in mind.
- Check out other people's Tracts - see if there are characters that catch your eye or spark some muse (these are all linked on the sideboard for ease).
- PM (private message) a member of the site - ask them directly if they want to RP.
If all else fails, or you're not sure what the best approach is for something you have in mind, contact an admin to ask for help.
