Appearance: While remaining lean and slender for the most part, one can easily tell that Christien is built strong and supple, something very reminiscent of his grandfather Drustan's side. He's reached his full height, and stands at a respectable six feet tall. In fact, he falls more in line with the Alban side of his family regards to looks than he does with the de Courcel lineage, however, he still has the graceful build, the long de Courcel neck, and it is clear that the d'Angeline influence is in his make-up. His hair is darker than his twin sister's but he has the same blue eyes.
Personality: His demeanour is quiet and stern, which gives him a certain brooding charm. His social skills are somewhat lacking and he prefers not to speak, or only to do so in sarcastic tones and double-entendres unless the person gives him a good impression or needs to be on their side. His family's nature, the fact that he was born so damnedly close to the throne, has given him a certain jadedness that shows in his manner and the fashion in which he bottles up his feelings. His testy patience and often quick ferocity when his temper is broken have given him a somewhat notorious reputation for being stubborn and angry. But this is only one side of himself, the other side being a very sensitive young man, fragile and seeking his place in the world. Any one lucky enough to see this side would see the quiet, gentle soul that lurks beneath.

History: Christien and his sister were raised on their family manor in L'Agnace, sheltered from most and seeing very little of City life but the occasional visit with family at the palace, Christien somewhat resents this though. His sister, born slightly after him, is the focus for his life and he looks poorly on anyone who makes her upset or angry. For Christien it is a hard line for him to manage, though Coretta is the world to him and he loves her dearly, since coming to live at the palace their lives have been greatly changed and so has their relationship; where once they were inseparable, they now spend much more time apart. Partly because of their conflicting duties, and partly because they've come to an age where their desires are changing. Both seek a form of freedom from their lives, yet are bound by their titles and names; added to this is the simple fact that both seek maturing relationships with the opposite sex, and this often leaves little room for siblings.
Growing up Christien, of course, had everything; education, clothing, the best of everything, but lacked the proper attention that a young man in his position should have had. Being raised around beautiful sisters made him insecure about himself, and about girls that he was attracted to. Because of this, he can be quite bumbling when he's truly taken with a young lady; though for the most part he finds most woman, especially at court, rather annoying and uninteresting. Its only a truly special young lady that would be able to turn his head and entrance him; and he has yet to find her. When it comes to women though, he has a tendency to be harsher, he and his sister have both visited Valerian and Mandrake respectively.
Currently he has not had much time for a social life as his sister the Queen has had him working, trying to learn the duties of the palace. Though he fully expects Sabrina to bear children and make them her proper heirs, he's still the Dauphin at the moment and must take the situation seriously. It has taken him some time, but he has actually come to enjoy being useful, which is also something he'd never admit to anyone, not even Coretta. Christien's biggest worry is being a political pawn to Sabrina; he knows too well that there are many that have opposed his sister's marriage to the Barbarian Prince, and he knows that she has plans to curb this. On the happy side that would mean he'd likely marry some one of standing within Terre d'Ange as opposed to being married off to a foreign country.
Updates: So much has happened to Christien since returning from La Serenissima that he can hardly think of it all. He was poisoned by a member of his own country's royalty, a woman whom he had considered a close friend. He lay in a coma for months, and when he awoke he found that Sabrina had died and he had lost his crown to his twin, because the country needed a ruler that was whole. He took it in stride, however, in truth, never having felt fit to rule, nor having the inclination to do so. The woman he loved, Silvana, had come to Terre d'Ange when she heard his plight, and although the war was difficult for him, he cannot help but be grateful that he has her by his side. In time Silvana left him too, and Christien was left somewhat at a loss. He has been struggling, of late, to reconcile the man he used to be, with the man he seems to be now. Much has happened to him, and as such it has had a profound effect on him. Through all of his soul searching though, one thing has not changed and that is his love for Coretta. Whatever happens within his life, one thing remains constant: his desire to be her rock and confidante.
Christien met a woman by the name of Melisent and, after a rocky start, struck up a friendship which then slowly turned to love. With gentle hands and loving patience, Melisent has helped him begin to heal and trust again, though he still has a long way to go. Christien surprised Melisent one day by asking her to be his Consort - the question he'd been planning for a little while, but circumstances led him to ask before he could plan anything grand. She accepted joyfully, and they are continuing as before.
Melisent's mother soon began interfering, beginning to spread rumours about the couple. Given Christien's status and position, he and Melisent both agreed to take a step back from their relationship, as painful as it was, and go their separate ways. Melisent moved back out into the country to see if she could stop her mother's meddling and Christien threw himself into his work.
