Appearance: Naturally elegant, delicate, but extremely frail, Fleurette stands at a tiny 4"11 tall, with a very thin, somewhat bony frame, pale skin, and large blueish green eyes. She has long golden hair that falls to just above the small of her back, and appears in nearly every sense as soft and fragile.
Her dress sense is extravagant, and exceedingly feminine, usually reflected in elegant gowns, tiaras, jewellery and high heels, and indeed, Fleurette cannot recall ever wearing anything that was not a dress or gown of some description. She tends to wear heavy make-up, expertly applied, and tends towards soft pastel pinks for her lips and manicured nails. Her fondness is for the colour pink, but she experiments with many different colours in her attire, but almost always soft, pastel colours or whites. She is extremely fond of perfume, and wears a thick, heavy, honeysuckle scent at all times; it is noticeable as soon as she enters a room, and she is noted for wearing far too much, even by her own handmaid, but that does not stop her.
There is no 'dressing down' for Fleurette; when she sleeps, it is in elegant silk pyjamas, complete with 'sleeping make-up', and once she awakes, she will always be fully dressed as elegantly as possible. She has no concept, nor desire, for 'practical' attitre or 'casual' wear.
Personality: On the surface and at a first meeting, Fleurette is everything she appears to be, a delicate, soft noble woman. She is softly spoken, polite, elegant and refined, and always impeccably dressed. Those who pay careful attention may notice that her appearance is of absolute the upmost importance to her, and it is not uncommon during a dining session or social event for her to call a handmaiden to her with a mirror to ensure she still looks flawless, but outside of that, to most people, she is very much the picture of what everybody might want from a noble daughter; demure and polite, fading into the background of a social event until attention is due to be called to her. The only thing that stands in her way is her love of perfume, always wearing far too much (her favourite being honeysuckle), meaning that everybody is aware when she is present by the sweet scent filling the room.
However, beyond the first impression of Fleurette, there is rather more than meets the eye. As some may gather from her checking the mirror regularly, she is exceedingly vain. Having grown up incredibly sheltered, the only real outlet for anything she had was in her appearance, and she became obsessed with always looking her best. It is something that means everything to her, but it also means that she is constantly fussing and worrying about how she looks (and exceedingly proud when she feel she looks good; which is almost all the time). It is in fact one of the very few things she can do for herself; applying her own make-up and styling her own hair, even if she often still allows her handmaiden to do it. She enjoys being able to do it herself.
Past the vanity, there is also an underlying sweetness. Fleurette has had a gentle, coddled life, never knowing hardship, and while it can mean she finds it hard to sympathise with those who do, she also immediately feels sorry for anybody who does. Her reaction can sometimes be disproportionate (you got mud on your SHOE!? Oh, you poor thing, how did you survive?) because she has no understanding of how bad things can be, but she cares, and she shows it, giving her a gentle, sweet spirit.
But that does not mean she cannot be a little mischievous. She is, after all, a teenager, who has lived a very overprotected life. She often gets bored, and she does like to find small adventures where she can find them. She can get carried away with exciting things, even if for her such exciting things are 'going into the family garden alone', and the promise of adventure fills her heart with glee, even if she's completely unprepared for it. The thought of visiting new places is incredibly exciting for her, now the age that she can travel and visit, and she absolutely cannot wait to see all the new sights, and when she does, she wants to see and try everything.
It is an eagerness that may wane as she finds these new experiences do not live up to her excitement, but it does not stop her being eager to try new things.
Additional Information Having been born a sickly child, and coddled her entire life, Fleurette is exceedingly frail, and physically incredibly weak. She cannot really take care of herself physically without help, requiring aid with everything from opening heavy doors to climbing in and out of carriages.
Marital Status: Single.
Known Languages: D'Angeline, native
Strengths and Weaknesses: Fleurette's greatest strength comes from who she is in social situations. Her polite, demure, delicate manner, her extravagant, fashionable dress, and her sweet and kind nature make her instantly likeable in many situations. Her bubbling curiosity at the world means she is as eager to talk to servants and commoners as she is nobles, and she is so sweet and polite that she tends to endear herself to people. While it's not always true; some people simply dislike someone as delicate as her, or the rich, or see her as spoiled, she does tend to be very good at making friends, and being likeable.
Her fashion choices are a strength also, even coddled away, she is always up to date with the latest fashion, and can fit into any polite society.
Her biggest weakness is, well, her weakness. Fleurette is incredibly physically weak, from a sickly childhood, a coddled upbringing, and a small frame. To say she had the strength of a small child would likely do a disservice to the small child. She is probably the person the phrase 'weak as a kitten' was invented for. She struggles with nearly any physical task, and needs help for it. She could never wield a weapon. Her endurance is low too, meaning she tires quickly, and the concept of running is foreign to her.
She is also extremely naïve. She has never travelled away from her Estate or seen the world, and everything she knows, she knows from books only.
Family Members/Important NPCs: Esmé de Lavigne - Mother
Edmond de Lavinge - Father
Loyal Handmaid (as of yet unnamed as potential player character)
History: Born to Comte Edmond de Lavigne and his wife, Esmé, on the impressive Lavigne Estate in the lower valleys of Camlach, Fleurette's birth was a difficult one. Having lost two babies previously, this was Esmé's last attempt at having a child, and while Fleurette was born, she was two months premature, and deathly frail. Although most healers and medics who visited gave her a very poor prognosis for survival, to the surprise of everyone, Fleurette pulled through.
Her early life was beset by health problems. Fleurette may have survived a difficult birth, but she was incredibly frail from it. She learned to walk later than most children ever would, was almost always exhausted, exhibited greatly reduced strength, and was small, even for her age. Her poor constitution meant that she often got sick, and she was in and out of bed frequently in those early years. Her only real comfort was her handmaiden and her dresses, which gave birth to her love of fashion, and she soon found the importance of make-up in covering up her sometimes sickly skin from various illnesses.
As she got older, her parents made the decision not to introduce Fleurette to other families for a variety of reasons. Not least that her frailty meant it would be difficult for her; leaving the Estate might make her sick, she'd struggle with the rides, and, although it has never been revealed to Fleurette, there was a level of embarrassment for her parents. The people of Camlach tended to value strength, a people of war and combat, and a noble family's only child being so physically weak they were afraid might be frowned upon. As such, instead, Fleurette simply grew up, never leaving her Estate grounds, spending all of her time with handmaidens and staff, reading books and poetry, and learning skills approved to be ladylike; mainly embroidery, but she spent more and more of her time with her passion for fashion, learning to style her own hair, do her own make-up, and apply her own scent (which, unfortunately, she decided she liked wearing far too much of).
While she did consider other hobbies, such as horse riding, she was simply too frail to even mount a horse, and instead, spent her entire time either in the garden or her father's luxurious estate home. To Fleurette, this did not seem unusual; she was a noble, yes, but still under eighteen, so of course it seemed natural she was not ready to be 'presented' to society yet. She was quite happy, blissfully unaware that her circumstances were unusual, even if she was aware of her health problems.
She did, however, get to socialise when families and guests came to visit her estate, forming some noble friendships, but somehow, it never occurred to her that families visited their estate with people her age, but she never got to visit their estate.
By the time she reached eighteen, she felt that her health had improved somewhat. She no longer needed to use the special seat installed halfway up the staircase for a rest when ascending the manor's stairs, she could open most of the doors herself if she had to (not that she ever did), and her illnesses seemed less frequent. She was still incredibly frail and weak, even by the standards of a noble woman, but that, combined with her turning eighteen, led to her convincing her parents that she should be allowed to attend other events. After all, they had always told her it was until she was eighteen, and now she was.
This meant that a whole new world had opened up to Fleurette. It was brand new, and one she couldn't wait to explore. She had absolutely no idea what was awaiting her out there, in the world, but she couldn't wait to see it. Even if she still needed assistance to even get into their carriage to go travelling....
