Character Avatar: Daniel Day Lewis
Character Name: Aegon de Lacordaire
Age: 52
Race: d'Angeline
Country/Providence: Eisande/Marsilikos
Marsilikos Trading Company and Estates: includes company information
Player: Desdemona

Appearance: Aegon is a stately and tall man, though not over tall for a d'Angeline and of a thinner built. When he was young he had dark brown, almost black, hair. As he aged it turned into a steel gray, though he still maintains a rather thick head of hair. His eyes are dark blue and piercing, though they still somehow make you feel comfortable with him. He is graceful but not overly angelic and pretty average by d'Angeline standards. He has had his ears pierced in the way of some Southern merchant sailors, but he only wears the earrings when he's at home or it's appropriate for the event, usually plain, but thick gold hoops.

Personality: Aegon maintains an air of superiority and authority most of the time. He is able to turn tables, however, and come across as warm and hospitable when dealing with potential customers or partners. At home he avoids his family most of the time, unable to shut himself off from work. Aegon needs no play because his work is his play and there is nothing else he'd rather do. He rarely attends social events, only making a presence if there is someone specifically that he wants to meet or impress.

History: Aegon was the third child in a rather large family. He had 3 other brothers and 4 sisters. His family owned a large head of sheep and produced wool for sale and trade. While Aegon had a comfortable upbringing he was a little jealous of those around him who had more. When he was 15 he suggested that his father invest in a loom factory and turn the wool into linen. He had heard that linen was growing rapidly as an export. The family sold locally more often than not and Aegon felt they were getting the short end of the financial stick. His parents humored him, starting with only a small loom and hiring someone to teach Aegon himself how to make it. Aegon adopted the hobby with great enthusiasm and while most of his friends were courting and attending other social events he was in a barn on his family's property trying to perfect the art. By 17 he was selling his linen at a premium price, hiring a few that he paid well so that others would not learn his techniques to quickly. Management and politics came naturally to him and by 21 he was his father's only wool customer.

Once Aegon's linen production was well established he moved past the simple production of it in order to find ways to expand his money and estate. Since he was paying large fees to shipping companies he decided to eliminate that expense and start shipping it himself. He was able to save and buy his first vessel at 24. He waited until he could purchase one that could travel a fair distance and hire a reputable crew. He sailed on the maiden voyage himself, though he hired a knowledgeable sea-going Captain as well. The maiden voyage was a success and Aegon found a new love. When he returned home he was feeling so ecstatic that he sought out his father and mother at a fete and shared them the good news. Even though that voyage did not make a large profit he had seen plenty of ways to increase his income many times over.

By the time he had arrived at the fete his family had left. On his way out, however, he spotted a rare beauty that took his breath away. Her hair and eyes were as pale as his was dark. He greeted her and soon the couple was dancing the night away. Aegon learned that she had just inherited a rather impressive estate. Her beauty along with her money was enough to win his heart. She was a new prize for him to conquer and conquer he did. He found the task easier than he would have thought since the rest of her family had pretty much shut her out due to suspecting foul play with her as the lead player, her parents and older sibling having died an unnatural death. Nothing could be proven so she was not tried. The entire family was a bit odd so Aegon decided that she was innocent enough and after courting her for 6 months asked for her hand in marriage.

It did not take Aegon long to realize that his wife was the craziest of them all. Pricilla Capet de Lacordaire emotionally unstable having days where she was the happiest person one would ever meet and others where she would threaten death upon you. Aegon, however, had a beautiful trophy wife and an estate that almost doubled with her contribution. Pricilla had no head for money so Aegon was easily able to take control and use her family's money to further his shipping company. He had soon left the linen company behind, letting someone buy him out for a nominal fee, so that he could concentrate solely on his shipping company. He was able to start trades with Bhodistani importing spices and silks. He always made sure that his products were of a high quality, his name already associated with the linens. His popularity amongst the trade world grew and by the time he reached 30 the company was well sought out in his industry. The East Lacordair Trading Company was one of the richest shipping companies in Eisande.

Pricilla had managed to pull Aegon away from his duties enough times to birth two children. One, Idaeus, was sent away when he was 10 to house Mandrake since Aegon did not want an uncontrollable child. He knew that his wife was the root cause of that child's problems so when she turned out to be pregnant a few weeks before Idaeus' departure, Aegon looked into hiring a nanny. He learned from some of his associates that Ch'n nannies were very loyal and kept secrets. He hired one, which had an added benefit of giving him a bilingual child. He was making new partnerships with Ch'n merchants and felt it would beneficial in the future if the deals worked out. He also threatened to throw his wife overboard if she damaged this child, a threat that she knew was not empty.

At 52 Aegon's 17 year old son Tommen was well behaved and learning his father's trade. The East Lacordaire Trading Company was more than 20 vessels strong and had dedicated shipping lines to and from both Ch'n and Bhodistani. Aegon's drive to gain more money and power had lessened and he is happy with maintaining his current company. He is very proud of his efforts and even made a small show room/museum in the front entrance of his office building on the port showing the history of the company. He had gained most of it legally and was pretty confident that his few misdeeds would never rise. His comfortable existence was somewhat interrupted by the unexpected death of his wife. They had grown quite distant over the years and maintained the marriage simply for posterity reasons.

He was given a shock, however, when his almost forgotten son Idaeus appeared at the funeral. There was no mistaking the child, he was his mother's blood in both appearance and grace. To further Aegon's surprise the man had came with a companion that Aegon had recognized as owning part of another shipping company. Aegon knew that Idaeus could tarnish his name if he chooses so he decided that keeping his son in close quarters would be to his benefit. To his pleasure Idaeus had wanted out of Mandrake. Aegon is very suspicious of his newly found son but keeps this to himself, coming across as a father welcoming in a long lost child. Well, a rather stoic father welcoming in a long lost child.
