Appearance:
Catalin's physical appearance very much favors her father's Aragonian side, with dark eyes and hair, and a deep tan tinge to her skin. She is of average height, although her sheer force of personality often makes it seem like she's the tallest person in the room. Catalin usually wears her hair loose, although she does prefer intricate braidwork from time to time. Her features are kissed by intense D'Angeline beauty, but the most common expression on that face is one of pucky impishness.
Personality:
She's a force to be reckoned, at least in her own mind, and definitely in the minds of several who have met her. Catalin is a true bon vivant, determined to make the most of everything her D'Angeline life and noble status has to offer. She loves to attend the most social fetes and festivities, and has a presence that instantly fills a room. Catalin tends to be brash and sometimes even rude, but it's almost always done with a twinkle in her eye and a smirk on her lips. Her manner has made a few enemies in the courts of nobility, but it has also made very close friends.
Catalin will often go by 'Cat' to her friends, and she certainly lives up to the name. Even more intimate is the nickname 'Kit', which is reserved for only family and the closest of lovers...on pain of a possible knifepoint.
Aside from being Daddy's Girl and a general social butterfly (gadfly?), Cat enjoys the hobbies of fencing (shared with her father), and horseback riding (shared with her sister). She also has an intense passion for cooking, especially Aragonian recipes. Cat is a lover of wine and spirits, but who isn't?
Additional Information
Marital Status: Unwed
Known Languages: D'Angeline, Aragonian (fluent and conversational), Caerdiccian (educated).
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: Cat has a very strong force of will and personality, which is more often a boon than a bane. She is also fiercely loyal to her family, worrying constantly over her father's happiness despite her own failures on the romantic front. Cat also is very protective of her sister, supporting Pandora even when she really doesn't understand her. She is also lively, creative, and passionate.
Weaknesses: Mainly, Cat will always take care of others before herself. She does have a temper that tends to come out with little provocation, making her somewhat unpopular with some of the stiffer court ladies and lords that have a high opinion of themselves. This, combined with a tongue that can be pure acid, means she prefers to avoid proper social situations that don't involve parties.
Family Members/Important NPCs:
Father: Hernando de Luna
Mother: Roselle de Luna (deceased)
Sister: Pandora de Luna
Cousin: Luis de Luna
History:
This little whirlwind was born to Hernando and Roselle a little under a year before her sister, making Catalin just barely the eldest de Luna sibling. She was a definite child of two worlds - a mixture of her father's Aragonian blood and her mother's D'Angeline grace. Catalin Arrosa de Luna was a precocious little girl from almost the word 'go', winning the hearts of her nursemaids and parents. Her mother would often comment how her Kit had seemingly been born with her eyes wide open, as if daring the Priest of Eisheth to smack her and make her cry.
Obviously Cat remembers very little of these early days, and she was soon joined by her sister, Pandora. The pair grew up very close to one another, even if their personalities were sometimes as diametrically opposite as two people could get. One thing that was incontrovertible, though, was their shared love of horses. Catalin fell in love with the animals on their first family trip to Aragonia, and it started her overall passion for her father's homeland that came to encompass its food, wine, and people.
The de Luna household was a happy one, and Cat often thinks back on those earlier years...wishing she'd have known how short they were going to be. Her mother, Roselle, was taken far too young by a mystery illness that her heartbroken father knew nothing of. One day, the morning dawned, and the woman was simply...gone. The void left by Roselle's passing loomed large and threatened to be all-encompassing, especially for Hernando. Cat's father had always been content to let Roselle handle all the matters of the household. They lived in her lands, after all, and Roselle had worked all the social connections and niceties that made life continue on.
It was also a time of personal sadness for Catalin, too, as she'd been courting a handsome young lordling from Azzalle named Rene Guillard. Although the boy wasn't a member of the Royals or anything, his family did control several shipping interests in the North. It was a fine match for the family, made even sweeter by the fact that Cat genuinely was in love for the first time in her life.
The only problem was...Rene fell in love with someone else.
Helplessly, Catalin watched the pain in Rene's eyes as the young man broke the news, thus breaking their engagement. Cat wanted to scream, howl, break things, possibly even Rene's tender parts...but ultimately she knew she was D'Angeline and even her own legendary temper must bow before the truth of Elua's Precept. She had to let him go. She even did it with a smile on her face and her tears in check.
This dual sadness was one that threatened to overwhelm Catalin, so she instead fully threw herself into making sure her father was happy and healthy after Roselle's passing. At first it was the simple things - eating properly, sleeping enough, not over-indulging in the wine - but as time passed, she began to think more about her own heartbreak and how much she didn't want her father to continue to be sad and suffering. It was thus that she appointed herself and fully deputized her sister as Matchmakers.
Catalin continues to act in this role, always on the look for a good pairing to make her father happy. She rarely ever feels much concern for her own situation in that regard - if it happens, it happens, but she's not really on the hunt. Her sister is a bit of a wild card, and Catalin does her level best to understand and support Pandora. Even if she doesn't quite 'get' her, she does love her sister unconditionally. Cat lives it up in the D'Angeline lifestyle, and she's often a fixture at fetes and celebrations, both in and out of Court. Opinion of this sassy feline is definitely divided, but the one guarantee is that people who meet her rarely forget her.
