Character Avatar: Emil Andersson

Character Name: Caine no` Cereus
Age: 20
Rank/Title: Adept at Cereus
Race: d' Angeline
Country/Province: City of Eula
Player: Desdemona

Appearance: Caine embodies all that is Cereus House. He is thin, only 5'7", pale blond hair and blue eyes. He wears his hair long and natural, rarely styling it up in any way. Caine enjoys the outdoors and being physically active, which shows in his lean and well defined body.

Personality: Caine is a man of few words. When he doe converse he is open with everyone, not keeping much to himself. He lives simply, fulfilling his assignations and duties to the house and spending his free time in nature exploring and breathing the clean air. He can come across as unusual at times. Though his years of training at Cereus has given him an adepts grace, something about him seems just a touch rougher around the edges compared to his peers. He can seem shy at times, but he feels no shame in his work as an adept.

History: Caine was born outside of the city in one of the smaller towns. His mother had him at a young age and only cared for him enough to keep him alive. He was, luckily, a healthy child by nature. When he was 3 years old he wondered out of the house while his mother was preoccupied by a lover in her bedroom. By the time she had noticed he was missing he had been gone for a few hours. His mom and the locals searched for him but could not find him.

Caine had wondered into a forested area and couldn't find his way out. The land stretched far and Caine wondered in it for 4 years. When he was about 7 he grew ill of some unknown cause. He was lucky enough to have wondered close enough to civilization for some hunters to find him, curled up in a ball under a tree. He had a fever and almost died. The care of a generous hunter's family saved him. When he regained enough strength to realize he was not in his known habitat anymore he grew frightened. Caine tried several times to run away from the house. The family knew the woods were no place for a young child and managed to keep him around long enough to heal. Caine grew use the family in time and stopped trying to leave.

As Caine grew he had a hard time fitting in with the rest of the small village. He was socially awkward and some had questions about his origins, thinking he may be something supernatural. The family did not know how to train a once feral child how to fit into society so they sought out someone more qualified. They spoke with some local priests and they tossed around the idea of sending him to one of the temples of Eula's various followers. However, the temples were not really geared toward's social training. There was one institution that was geared towards training young children to act as graceful adults. So, the family brought him to the Night Court.

Caine had the baby blue eyes and pale blond hair sought after for the adepts of Cereus, so that house was their first choice. He was a little smaller than the average child his age. At this point he had been with the family for two years, but that had not been enough time for him to make up for the growth lost with his 4 years in the wild. It was, however, enough time for him to act fairly civilized and not completely feral. The family had dubbed Caine a birthday, and they gave this to the Dowayne, not being completely honest about the fact they had no idea where he came from. His behavior was explained by highly neglectful parents, which was not a complete lie. The Dowayne almost turned them away. The family assured her that they were simply looking for a good upbringing for Caine and not money. They also signed a contract saying they would pay for his first year of care if things did not work out. Thankfully, for everyone involved, things did work out.

Caine missed the family he spent his previous two years with, but he did not miss the whispers and stares. At Cereus adepts were taught to respect each other, and this included Caine. He did well in this new home were rules where taught and trained. By the time Caine reached his 16th natal he mostly fit in with everyone else and was ready to start his service to Naamah. There was still an edge of oddness about him, which has made Caine's ability to earn his marque a bit slower than most adepts. He has never shied away from work, however, and he makes up for any lack of Patrons with work he accomplishes around the House. He has proven to have a uncanny ability to fix things and has saved the House money for a professional on a few occasions while maintaining the aging structure and keeping everything new and well put together. He is also easy going and friendly, making him a favorite among adepts who want someone to vent to.

At 20 Caine's mark is close to 75% complete. However, with no plans for the future, he is happy where he is and will probably stay on at Cereus until someone boots him out.
