Appearance: Aaliyah is not too tall, coming in at 5' 5". She is thin and in decent shape, though not especially athletic. She has long wavy red hair and hazel eyes the lean more green than brown. She has a classic beauty, though her hair can make her stand out in some crowds.
Personality: Aaliyah is a sweet girl that lives with her head mostly in the clouds. She is an artist before all else, though she enjoys the physical part of those particular assignations. She isn't a planner or very ambitious. She simply wants to paint the world and enjoy life as it comes.
History: Aaliyah was born from a 16yr old d’Angeline noble who had a fondness for travelers and the mysteries surrounding them. Her parents where horrified at her pregnancy and prayed to the gods that it would be aborted. When Aaliyah’s mother started to show her pregnancy she was hidden in a servant's room. Friend's and family were told that she went on an extended vacation. It was also in that room that Aaliyah’s mother raised her.
The family owned an extensive library and used it to teach Aaliyah's mom what she would have seen and learned the fake vacation. Aaliyah was also taught how to read and accomplish other basics tasks when she was a young child with these books. When she wasn't learning, she was drawing and playing with colors on paper, her seclusion giving her little else to do.
Aaliyah would see her grandmother once a year on her birthday. Then the noblewomen would check on her growth and progress. Aaliyah learned to drop to her knees at her presence and show reverence. For the rest of her time she only saw her mother. Aaliyah’s father was never spoken of, not to the child or otherwise.
To her grandmother’s delight Aaliyah showed an artistic aptitude when she was quite young. She could doodle recognizable images by the time she was 4 years old and she was creating small masterpieces by the time she was 7. Having only her books to guide her Aaliyah spent most of her young life drawing, inking, and painting. To keep her from becoming a weak child Aaliyah’s mom had her do small exercises in the room and she was allowed to run around the house at night when no one was around.
The night before she turned 10 Aaliyah’s grandmother packed her up and brought her to the Eglantine House, taking along samples of her art. It was Aaliyah’s first time out of the house and the greatest change her short life had ever seen. She was accepted without issue and given a far more normal life.
Aaliyah adapted better than one would have thought and did well as an adept in training. Her skill was especially noticeable when painting portraits. Her debut went well and Aaliyah did well enough as an adept. She wasn't especially motivated to finish her marque and didn't complete it until she was 22 years old. She did very well by her patrons, but with new supplies to buy and other interesting things her money was spent elsewhere.
Before she completed her marque Aaliyah met a Helitrope adept named Geraldine. Unknown to the girls, they had the same father. When she made her marque Geraldine left and their friendship slowly faded.
With her marque complete Aaliyah continues to fill her duties as an adept and lives at Eglantine. She will also teach classes when requested to both adepts and interested Patrons. Though she does well enough to start her own salon, that requires more foresight and self control than Aaliyah cares to maintain.
