Character Avatar: Pete Burns (80's)
Character Name: Sylvain (Syl - pronounced Seel) Shahrizai de Somerville
Age: 39
Rank/Title: Prince (Prince Consort)
Race: D'Angeline
Country/Province: Terre d'Ange/Kusheth
Player: Merle
Appearance: Syl has the typical looks of house Shahrizai, the pale skin, black hair and striking blue eyes -with one distinction. Unlike most of the family, his hair is a mass of profuse curls. He's also rather taller than average with a thin, wiry frame. His beautiful, rather than handsome, face is always quick to give a seductive smile or sultry look. Sylvain's fashion sense can be a bit garish at times, consisting of much black leather and colorful accents, like Tsingani scarves tied in various places.

Personality/History: Cheerful, and more than a little flamboyant, Syl tends to be somewhat of an outcast. His friendliness and easy manner make it easy to look past his familial heritage and to think that Sylvain is gentler than his brethren -not a mistake one should make. Unlike the rest of his personality, his passions fall right in line with what one would expect of a Shahrizai... though he spends as much time at Mandrake as he does Valerian.
His lackadaisical attitude also makes it easy to underestimate his intelligence -another mistake. Syl is as quick witted and observant as any of his cousins, and when the mood strikes him, his tongue just as sharp. As much as he titters and teases, he's just as likely to subtly insult you with his family's barbed wit.
Born the middle child of a minor offshoot of the infamous Shahrizai clan, Sylvain has little influence or responsibility... and likes it that way. Honestly, there isn't much to say about his history that isn't dreadfully boring. He had parents, they fucked, he was born. He grew up. Nothing else to say.
He's always falling in and out of love, and is almost obsessive about the object of his desire. So, he spends most of his time finding and pining for love, when he isn't in the middle of some drama with a former flame.

Updates: Syl's life, always an adventure, has taken many unexpected twists in the last year. Returning to the City of Elua after a stint in his home province of Kusheth, a chance meeting lead to a whirlwind romance... and he found himself falling in love with the notoriously woman-loving, Prince Iulus de Somerville, and has since become his (not yet officially recognised) consort. Along the same time as that fateful meeting, he also happened to -completely unintentionally- get his cousin Sirena pregnant. A fact that terrified him to no end, though he was determined to be there for her and their child, and be the best father he could be.
If things weren't complicated enough with a royal consort and a child on the way, at a party he attended with Iulus (hosted by the Dauphin, no less) two things of import happened. The first was a passionate encounter and reconnection with Syl's ex-lover, Castiel... and the second was the surprise announcement by Aeneas de Somerville of his brother, Iulus', engagement to the Dowager Duchesse Veronique Liatris. Syl was hurt, humiliated and furious with Aeneas, but has stuck by Iulus.
Though still very much in love with Iulus, Syl continued to see Cast after that first tryst - eventually realising he had never stopped having feelings for him, despite the many years since their break-up and the briefness of that original affair. So it was that he found himself in love with two men, at least one of which who was not in perfect harmony with the idea. It was Iulus, though, who accompanied him to Kusheth for the impending birth of his and his cousin's baby.
In another dramatic turn, Sirena gave birth to not one, but two. The real shock, though, was when both of the children were turned over to Syl's sole care. Taking his son Ronen, and daughter Lorelei, he, Iulus and a wetnurse left, visiting Syl's mother briefly before returning to the City of Elua. Needing a more permanent caretaker for the children, Syl hired Ysolde Pelletier to be their wetnurse and nanny.
9/17/2017 - The recent year or so has been a time of great highs and lows for Syl. He has reunited with old lovers, and lost others. Things have grown more complex and deep between Syl and his former flame Pierre Gage, while the relationship between Syl and Iulus and their friends Noe and Gregoire Duchamp has reached new levels. On the other side of the coin, he was devastated to learn that Castiel was lost at sea, presumed dead, during an expedition to Terra Nova. A loss he still mourns deeply.
In happier news, not long after celebrating the nuptials of friends and lovers Noe and Gregoire, Syl and Iulus have joined in matrimony. A choice that many thought neither of those notorious bachelors would ever make. Though nervous going through the wedding itself, it is not a decision Syl ever second-guessed. To him it was simply a confirmation, and extravagant celebration, of what he has known for some time now - that Iulus is the love of his life, his partner, family.
