Character Avatar: Angel Thanatos

Character Name: Rosiel Shahrizai
Age: 28
Rank/Title: Aristocrat; Future Comte de Lautréamont
Race: d'Angeline
Country/Province: Terre d'Ange/Kusheth
Player: Desdemona

Appearance: Rosiel almost embodies all things Shahrizai. He is tall, 6' 5” and stately. He embodies grace and beauty as one would expect from his kin. The only thing that sets him off from his brethren is a slight gray tint to his blue eyes. He wears his blue-black hair long and slightly past his shoulders. He is also on the paler side of the Shahrizai line, but no so much that it makes him stand out.

Personality: Rosiel's personality also fit's that of the Shahrizai, though on the colder side of the house. He is charming and shares their ability to read others. He enjoys the pleasure of both receiving and giving pain. However, his cold side is colder than most, even the Shahrizai. He keeps hidden behind a mask of normalcy that only a few of his closest relatives and friends can see through. He knows that he doesn't feel emotions the same as most people. Even though he can read other emotions well, he does not truly understand why they exist. He will know if you are sad but not feel sad with you. He will use his charm and intelligence to his family's advantage, but is careful not to overdo it. He is fiercely loyal to his family and no others, though this loyalty is by cold logic and not a felt passion. He also bores easily and is always seeking stimulation, usually through others. He visits the Night Court often and will play on both ends of the whip. If he can afford to do so, he prefers to play on both ends at the same time.

History: Rosiel has a long past with many skeletons. He was born into a caring family that raised him well, but this only lasted until he turned 7 years of age. His father, Comte Edgard Shahrizai, was an impulsive man and thought his son could do with a bit of travel. He had been found three weeks before the trip with a small dog and a knife. Rosiel wanted to know what was inside of a dog and did not seem to understand that his actions were harming the animal. He had already cut into the dog, and had not responded to it's cries of pain. His parents found the episode disturbing. His father thought that maybe some bonding time would help Rosiel and Rosiel's mother, Andromaque, reluctantly agreed to it.

Only two weeks into the trip Edgard's party was attacked by bandits. They were professionals who came in during the night and quickly dispatched those in the camp. Rosiel heard them and awoke only to watch his father's throat being cut. He was angry that his father had been taken from him and managed to kill the man who had killed his father. Rosiel went on a cold rampage and managed to kill two other bandits who had not taken the 7 year old seriously enough. When he was caught he was not killed. A 7 year old with even the most rudimentary fighting skills would bring a heavy bag of gold.

Rosiel was indeed sold and to a Drujani who had traveled away from his country in order to run a small order of assassins. He trained his people hard and he was no kinder to Rosiel because he was young. Rosiel was smart and picked things up fast. Rosiel was sent to kill his first target at the tender age of 10 and succeeded. He killed many people after that. Rosiel's coldly took out the targets. He felt no thrill in doing the deed, but he did thrill in the danger of it all. Still, he was a slave and this did not sit well with him. He wanted more than just a list of orders to follow.

When he was 16 Rosiel felt that he knew enough about the land that could find his way home. He had also seen the bandits who had sold him to the Drujani as a child reappear to make another deal. He decided to act and kill the bandits. Killing them would give him a challenge, his usual jobs had stopped doing so after 6 years. He completed his task, his master having trained him well, and in the end killed the Drujani as well. The Drujani was his equal in some ways and the difficult fight that ensued felt like a serious accomplishment and one that Rosiel would find hard to match in the field of assassins.

With his master dead Rosiel started his trek back home in search of something new. He would no longer be a cut throat living on the fringes of society. He would be immersed in society as a civil human being, an aristocrat with the potential of nobility. Rosiel would not kill for this title, however, he wanted to gain it through politics and intrigue like, "normal," people did. He would further challenge himself with caring for his Mother and any family he happened to have left. Winning the nobility by doing the, "right thing," through them. Acting as a controlled and emotional human would be his biggest challenge yet.

Rosiel was 17 when he finally returned to Kusheth and his family home. He made his way to his mother's house without mentioning his presence to anyone. His rather surprised mother welcomed him back into the household and Rosiel started a new form of training. This time, how to be a noble and take over for his mother when she was no longer able to be the Comtesse of Lautréamont. He tread carefully with his younger brother, Andras, knowing that there would be some resentment for the eldest and heir returning after so many years. He didn't want to destroy his brother, that would ruin the challenge he gave himself, but he would also not hand over what was rightfully his. He does keep his brother in place but tries to do so carefully, mimicking the caring older brother he sees in others.

Rosiel keeps his past in his past and does a good job, for the most part, of being the charming future noble that he is suppose to be. When life has become to tedious he takes out his frustrations through Mandrake and Valerian. He is careful to follow all of the house rules and honor any signal that is spoken. He enjoys both end of the lash, the pain stimulating his mind and controlling others stimulating his ego.
