Character Avatar: Helen Mirren
Character Name: Heléne de Layne
Age: 84
Race: D'Angeline
Country/Province: Terre D'ange/Eisande
Player: Janet
Appearance: Grey haired, fine boned and slim. Aging gracefully. Hazel-green eyes which are watchful and observant. Given her age, she is finding it increasingly difficult to move around now, sometimes requiring a cane to walk with. Despite the discomforts that age is bringing to her door, she still sits and walks with back ramrod straight and head held high.
Personality: She has a fine, shrewd mind, but often hides it behind the facade of an elderly gossip. She loves a good rumour and will endeavour to find out the truth of it. She comes across as everyone's favourite aunt and that allows her to inveigle her way into the heart of intrigues and mysteries. However, her tongue can be as sharp as her mind when people annoy her and she has little patience for follies and fools.

History: Born and brought up in Eisande, in what to her feels like the distant past. She had her fair share of scrapes as a youngster most of which involved teasing her younger brother, Jean. As they grew up, their lives diverged greatly. Heléne married a man by the name of Eric d'Orn and moved away, living with her husband on the Eisande coast. They were happy but had no children. Heléne kept herself busy in the local community, becoming a central figure and involving herself in any and every event and drama going. When she was approaching her seventieth birthday she discovered that her husband had been having an affair for the last thirty years. Shocked and horrified, she immediately divorced him. Something that she hides with shame, mostly because she was ashamed that she never noticed, so busy was she with other peoples lives and intrigues. It wasn't that she couldn't stand he had another lover, she is as d'Angeline as anyone else. It was more to do with the fact he had kept it secret from her. As such she couldn't stand being the butt of the scandal so she took back her old family name and moved to the City of Elua where she set about making a new life for herself and indulging once again in her hobby of ferreting out the local rumours and mysteries of the people surrounding her.
In time, her favourite nephew, Franck, joined her in the city. She was convinced the city life would do him good and make more of a man of him. She loves him dearly, but he clearly needs a firm hand....
Updates: Franck has moved back to Eisande, as Helene had finally realised that no amount of reprimands and lecturing would make him steady down. Now, with her mortality increasingly on her mind, she is seeking a suitable candidate to hand her fortune to. She has no wish to leave it to any de Layne family as, as far as she is concerned, they are all a waste of space.
