Appearance: There is definitely a note of boyish charm about Vivien. He has a mop of curly black hair, thick brows, with a wide nose and plump lips... but what really stands out about him is his sparkling blue eyes. They're almost arresting, surrounded as they are by his luscious thick black lashes and his ability to make his gaze appear focused and attentive.
Vivien is very slender, with a narrow waist and long limbs - but for all that, he's by no means scrawny... though a few patrons have mentioned he needs feeding up a little.

Personality: There is an aura of quiet calm surrounding Vivien, no matter what he's doing. He's empathetic and understanding in a manner that belies his age. Perhaps it's because of his open and friendly demeanour, or the aura he exudes, but people love to sit and talk to him.
He loves to help people, and is proud of serving Naamah and being a Balm - however he does get frustrated by the fact that people always seem to want to offload their worries and trouble onto him, even when he's not 'working'. For all his frustration, he takes all the confidences to heart and never repeats what he's been told.
At times, because he's so empathetic - often crying along with his patrons - he feels drained and exhausted by their visits. It's not unusual for him to take a day or two to recover emotionally afterwards.

Mother, Mégane, and father, Matthias - both of Gentian.
Younger sister, Aurélia, two years his junior - also a Gentian adept.
History: Vivien was born of a House-sanctioned relationship, a Gentian couple that wanted to start a family, with hopes of keeping family tradition. Both parents had ties with Gentian, spanning back generations and so it seemed fitting for them to fall in love and begin a family whilst in service to Gentian.
Mégane lit her candle and soon thereafter welcomed Vivien into the world. Nigh two years later, his sister Aurélia joined the family. The two children were almost inseparable and Vivien always seemed to know what his sister wanted, or when she was in trouble, even when she couldn't speak.
As they grew older, Matthias and Mégane endeavoured to interest them in the world that they lived in. In the arts they employed and the tools they used to predict events and interpret dreams. Aurélia seemed to be far more intuitive than Vivien was, though he too, seemed to have instincts that would serve him well. his quiet attitude and empathetic behaviour had not gone unnoticed and it seemed to Mégane and, after some convincing, to Matthias that Vivien would perhaps be better suited to Balm.
In due course they arranged a meeting with the Dowayne of that House who, after meeting Vivien and speaking to him, concurred with their assessment. At the age of ten, Vivien found himself moving to his new home, leaving his parents and sister behind - with tears and embraces all around.
It was a withdrawn and emotional Vivien who began life at Balm, but in time, with encouragement from his peers and adepts, he slowly came out of his shell and began to enjoy life there. Taking to his lessons like a duck to water and doing well. He made his debut at the usual age and began to make a reputation as the adept to go to if you wanted someone to talk to. He still visits his family in Gentian, and there's a part of him that always feels sad for not being able to stay at Gentian, though he knows he's probably better off using his talents at Balm.
