Character Avatar: Jacey Elthalion
Character Name: Pierre Gage
Age: 41 - 01/06/1984
Race: d'Angeline
Country/Province: Terre d'Ange/l'Agnace
Rank: Fully Marqued Adept of Bryony
Player: Janet

Appearance/Personality: Tall and lithe, Pierre is a fine specimen of a man. His thick brunette locks alternate between short and shoulder length, depending on his mood. His features are angular and fine, a chiselled jaw oft sporting stubble, revealing that there is something other than d'Angeline in his ancestry. Pierre has full expressive lips and eyes that change betwixt blue and green depending on the light, his clothing, and emotions.
To keep his body in shape, Pierre prefers to train in hand to hand combat, rather than run, work out or dance, like most other adepts. In fact, he has occasionally been reprimanded by the Dowayne for returning to the House sporting scrapes and bruises. On a normal day to day basis though, you would never suspect Pierre of being terribly active at all. His very demeanour is one of nonchalance. Of indolence, even. His posture is most often relaxed, eyes hooded with indifference, but don't let that fool you. Behind that blasé air and indifferent gaze is a sharp, analytical mind and a quick intelligent wit and, when he wants or needs to, he will move and move fast.

He abhors sleight of hand and parlour tricks of that nature, though like any Bryony, he can shuffle cards in a myriad of ways and add flair to throwing dice or dealing cards. The quickest way to raise Pierre's ire and to see beneath that insouciant façade is to accuse him of cheating. To do such will get an instant reaction from the man as he takes pride in winning games on wit and knowledge alone. He calculates the odds in his head, works out the likelihood of various events, but will never cheat. To do so, in his opinion, cheapens the game and cheats both yourself and your opponents of a true victory.
His voice has recently been described as: being 'like thick honey, not an unpaved road' (thank you Rosalie Gatell)
History: The son of a moneylender and a Bryony, Pierre was almost genetically predisposed to be a fan of coin, and so it proved. Pierre's story really began when his father took an assignation with a Bryony adept, who'd not long completed her marque. The one meeting turned into several and soon a love blossomed between the two. In time, Rose left Bryony to live with Raphael and help him with his business. A few years later found their business booming and a young Pierre toddling about their feet. It was clear that the young boy had intelligence and an aptitude for numbers. That, and a quick mind, made him both inquisitive and bold.
It didn't take much persuading for Rose to convince her husband to let Pierre enter service to Naamah with Bryony. She figured that the training he would receive would aptly prepare him for taking over what was a growing business. Seeing the effect that Rose'd had on his business first hand, there was no way Raphael could refuse. He saw Pierre's induction into Naamah's service as an investment. A chance for Pierre to be educated and make contacts, with a view to further expand the business once he had made his marque.
Of course, parental plans do not often take into account the wishes of their children and so it proved with Pierre. He found he really liked it in Bryony and had no wish to leave the comforts of his House - where he had a steady income with reliable and repeat Patrons - in order to run the family business which had begun to wane in fortunes. Much to his parents' dismay, Pierre at first avoided the subject of returning home, then flatly refused. Nothing his parents could do or say would persuade him otherwise.
So, after making his marque, Pierre remained in Bryony. Living and loving life, and teaching the younglings in between assignations. One of his patrons was one flamboyant Shahrizai. It began with an assignation, but they soon began meeting outside of Bryony. The dalliance was fun and enjoyable, and it wasn't until Syl wished him farewell and disappeared, that Pierre realised he'd fallen hard for the Shahrizai. It was too late, however, and Pierre felt somewhat bitter and rueful, especially when, some time later, he heard on the grapevine that his love had found love with another. It certainly gave Pierre more sympathy with those from Heliotrope - a House he never could quite understand.
