Appearance/Personality: An ethereal creature too lovely to be real, some have said. Like a porcelain doll. Fragile, breakable. Nicodème is everything that a Cereus should be. Exactly as he was bred to be. Skin pale and flawless as milk, eyes blue, his face framed by a profusion of blond curls. His nose is thin, delicate, his mouth full and sensuous. As he's neared the cusp of adulthood, the width of his cheekbones, the squareness of his jaw and chin, are all that have saved his androgynous features from seeming outright feminine. That and the clearly masculine line of his long, graceful neck.

While he looks the part easily, it is in his demeanor that the young adept to be struggles to live up to his idea of the quintessential Cereus. Unfortunately, he isn't always sure what that means. All loveliness fades. In the heart of his youth, the prospect of his beauty fading is a difficult thing for Nicodème to fathom. He questions whether he bears that steel that some of his House are said to find as beauty succumbs to age, but knows that it will in all likelihood remain a mystery until he has reached his own twilight years.
One thing is certain, for all that one might think, seeing this quiet, willowy boy, that he could easily expire in a moment of passion, he is not nearly so frail as he appears. Neither in constitution nor in spirit. His slender body is hale, and his mind full of curiosity and musings. Like that of the fleetingness of life and beauty, how either can slip through ones grasp through the turning of years or within a moment. It wouldn't be out of line to think the boy might have served well in Gentian, though he comes off as more aloof than spiritual. As cool and emotionless as the doll he resembles. Even if that isn't truly the case.

History: Nicodème was never a child chance. His parents were no star-crossed lovers. Not even a love match, sanctioned by their Night Court superiors. Nicola and Damian nó Cereus were exemplary adepts, exceptionally lovely, and loyal to Cereus, and were thus chosen, their union arranged, for the likelihood that they would produce outstanding progeny that would be an asset to their House. And to that end they agreed, without hesitation, to the Dowayne's proposal.
As expected, they did have beautiful children. Four of them, to be exact. First a girl that, despite her perfectly Cereus looks, did not have that delicate demeanor. Secondly, Nicodème, hot on his elder sister's heels, and some years later, two half siblings, one from each of his parents. Given the circumstances, Nicola and Damian were always fairly distant with the elder two of their children, and only grew moreso once having children with their chosen partners. So, Nicodème and his sister were closer to each other than anyone else as a result.
That made it difficult for the both of them when it was decided that Cereus would not hold his sister's marque. When she turned ten, an age marked in the Night Court, it was agreed -after some deliberation- that her marque would be bought and held by Camellia House. Besides the anxiety of the separation, the decision meant that it now fell on Nicodème's shoulders to be the consummate Cereus that the Dowayne had been looking for in the match between his parents.
As for his younger siblings, it is too early to tell where their dispositions will place them. What Night Court canon they will fall under, though there is little doubt that they will continue in that tradition. Meanwhile, Nicodème himself awaits the day, one that draws closer and closer, that he might make his debut. The Cereus that he was always meant to be.
