Appearance: Danae is a short and thin girl, at only 5'2" and with pixie doll facial features. Her hair is blonde and her eyes are blue - grey, the kind of blue/grey that seems to change color with every outfit. She has long blond hair that is naturally straight, but will take a wave with some effort. She is most notable for her unusually small stature and fine facial features.
Personality: Danae is a big attitude in a small package. She loves that she was born small and petite because it makes her roll as a Mandrake more fun and challenging. She does not like life to be to easy or simple. She is easily bored and that is the one thing she hates most of all, boredom. Danae is charming and outgoing, a independent woman who is your friend as long as you like her for who she is naturally. She loves being a Mandrake but loves it more for the fun of a power struggle than pure dominance or pain. She is also fascinated with human pleasure and in the end she enjoys any assignation that her patron finds pleasure in.
History: Danae grew up as child number three in a family of four. She was lively from day one. She was a difficult child that managed to charm her way into everyone's hearts regardless. A small and dainty child she was watched over carefully when she was young for fear that she would fall prey to harm easily. As she grew she proved to be just as strong as the rest an eventually the worry ceased.
When Danae was eight she came upon her parents making love in the garden. The children were all suppose to be in bed but Danae had been sneaking about. She watched with fascination at their coupling and found her parents facial and verbal reactions to each other the most fascinating. She had not seen a vision of rapture like they had before. She took to sneaking out at night to see if she could catch her parents again. She did not do so often since they were not that prone to making love outside of closed doors, but when she did she would watch everything with wide eyes, absorbing it all in. She was only eight and had not yet had her womanly stirrings, so there was nothing sexual about her spying, just pure curiosity.
After three or four months of this Danae happened to come across another sight. Two of the servants had sneaked away and where in one of the family's storage rooms. Danae heard them before she saw them, having to sneak open a door to a storage room. Poorly suppressed sounds of pleasure but also, pain. She cracked opened the door and watched with horror at first as one was spanking the rump of another with a large wooden spoon. Her parents had never done as much to her and she was a child. However, it did not take long for her to notice that the person being spanked was enjoying it. There was hair pulling, scratching, and other activities that Danae would have never thought a person could enjoy, but this one did.
Danae stopped sneaking out at night after that, though during the day she would sometimes hide in a corner and watch the pain-loving servant as she cleaned and cooked. She seemed perfectly normal and Danae wanted to know why she enjoyed such activities. Finally, just a few months before her 9th natal, Danae built up enough courage to ask. The servant was surprised at first, uncomfortable with knowing that she had been spied on by a young girl. Then she just shrugged and said, "it feels good to some people. Ask your parents about Mandrake and Valerian Houses, if they want you to know they will tell you."
Danae did just that. Her parents were less shocked, having felt pretty comfortable about such talks with their children. They explained that some people found pain in pleasure. They also took the time to teach Danae about the Night Court and the other houses. She learned about some of Namaah's gifts, though in an age appropriate way.
Danae only thought about this for a week before asking to be taken to Mandrake House. At the interview with the Dowayne she explained her fascination and why she wanted to join. The Dowayne was skeptical, this tiny little sprite of a child wanted to be a Mandrake? She decided to let her stay for a trial period, with a fee from her parents, but not until she was 10. Her parents agreed, wanting their child to be happy and follow her dream. When Danae was 10 she was brought to Mandrake to start her training as a youngling. The lessons were the more tedious lessons of grace, propriety, and how to do one's House chores. But, Danae was determined and she learned to tone down her impulsive nature that caused her so much trouble when she was still at home.
Danae was a very studious Mandrake and had no difficulty in taking charge or delivering pain. She absorbed her lessons like a sponge and was ready to let her dove fly and start her service to Namaah when she was 16. Another's pleasure was less of a curiosity now and had turned into her pleasure. The mixture of pain and pleasure from clients with those tastes still fascinated her. She found those who sought out shame, obedience, and submission just as interesting. She learned that pleasure came in many forms within the walls of Mandrake and she was ready to explore them all.
She did well as an a adept and her virgin marque sold for an impressive amount. She was slightly unusual in her small stature and delicate features which helped her stand out a little as an adept. Her mark has climbed up her back at a steady pace. Though she is well over the halfway point Danae has made no plans on leaving the House. Unless something more interesting comes along, she will likely stay there until they chase her out.
Though she lives happily at Mandrake, she keeps a close relationship with her biological family. A small low tier noble family living on the outskirts of the City.
