Appearance: Sebastien looks a lot younger than his age. His features could almost be described as baby-faced. Smooth complexioned, with full 'cupid bow' lips, rich dark chestnut hair and blue-green eyes there is no doubt that Sebastien is d'Angeline. His honey skin tone is a legacy from his mother, his blue green eyes a gift from his father. The rest of his physical characteristics can be attributed to his grandfather on his mother's side. Sebastien stands at 6'1, and his physique is muscled and lithe, his skin littered with tiny silvery scars, a testament to his years serving as an Adept at Valerian.
Personality: It has been said of Sebastien that there isn't a malicious bone in his body. Not an unkind word has ever been heard to pass his lips. People have remarked that, for a man with a father and brother in Mandrake, he surely should have some of the traits that came with that side of Kushiel's love, but nothing is further from the truth. Sebastien is a kind soul. A truly lovely man that puts one in mind of a puppy. A large, loving, devoted puppy.
He's empathetic, sympathetic, and trusting. If he hadn't found life at Valerian so enjoyable, there could have been every chance he would have found a home at Balm, or perhaps even Heliotrope. His voice is calming, his smile a comforting one. Even his gaze is one that draws someone in and makes them feel at home.
Sebastien, for all his empathy and kindness, isn't the brightest spark though. He passed his tests at Valerian well enough, if given enough time. It's not that he's stupid, as such, just a little slower on the uptake. Witticisms sometimes pass him by, and it might take him a little while to get a joke, much to the chagrin of his Orchis sister.
Family also means a lot to Sebastien. His family may be split between various Houses on the Mont, but he takes time to visit with each member. Not letting anyone go too long without a visit from him, or at the very least a letter. He's closest to his Mother, Celeste, for obvious reasons, but he loves all his family equally.
History: The second child to Blaise no Mandrake and Celeste no Valerian, Sebastien was brought up, with his brother and mother at Valerian. His older brother, Leon, was a few years older than him and was soon moved to join his father at Mandrake. Sebastien was crushed for a while, having doted on his brother. In time, Sebastien took the test for Valerian and, at seven, was assured a place there, much to Celeste's delight. She was not overly maternal, but she loved that a son of hers was going to join her at Valerian.
Shortly after Sebastien joined Valerian properly, his sister, Agate was born. She was as different to Sebastien and Leon as it was possible for siblings to be. Full of vim and vigour, laughter and joy. Like he had done with Leon, Sebastien doted on his baby sister and was devastated when she, too, was moved to another House. By that time though, Sebastien was well on his way to make his début at Valerian so had a distraction, thankfully. His début came and went, and whilst he didn't break any records with his virgin price, he earned his House a modest amount. His first Patron, a noblewoman, wore a vanilla scented perfume. A soft scent that belied the harsh time she put him through. Sebastien loved it though, and has since associated Vanilla with good times.
When Agate suffered her accident, Sebastien was one of the first to visit her. Shocked at her injuries, he was nonetheless in awe and admiration of how she bore the pain. He was also a little envious of it, though he'd never admit it to her. Regardless, he did what he could to comfort her in her dark days, though it was their elder brother that managed to break her out of her melancholy. However it was managed, Sebastien was glad for it, for he'd missed her vibrant wit, even if some of it had gone over his head.
When Sebastien completed his marque, he remained at Valerian, joining his mother in training the younglings. Whereas his mother specialised in humiliation, Sebastien specialised in pain management in its myriad forms. Sebastien loved pain in all its types and had experienced the majority at his Patrons' hands, so was the perfect candidate, with his sweet, calm nature, to teach the youngsters. He still takes assignations and, being the man he is, has quite a number of loyal Patrons.
Updates and Character Development:
- Sebastien began a fiery passionate relationship with Eris no Mandrake
- They were happy for a time but, after a few years, Sebastien felt that he had to end the relationship due to Eris' tempestuous nature
- After a meeting with Idaeus Lacordaire (a former patron) Sebastien has agreed to work with him on his upcoming floating Salon. Not only that, but he has also agreed to move in with Idaeus. This decision was sudden and it is unknown as to whether it'll work out... Time will tell.
