Appearance: Roberto is tall, dark and handsome. Standing at 6'3 he towers over the majority of his Caerdicci brethren. His dark brunette hair is kept short and his beard is always neatly trimmed. His dark blue eyes regard the world with an intelligent and watchful light. His most notable feature is his smile, worn frequently and which always reaches his eyes.
His physique is muscular and well-maintained, with coarse hair covering his legs, torso and chest. His hands are always moving, as that is his way of communicating.

Personality: Roberto is a bright, inquisitive and intelligent man. He loves to meet new people and make new friends. He's generally a very happy, friendly person and not afraid to approach people. He regards the world with fascination and wants to learn about everything, as well as being unafraid to try new things himself and put himself in situations that he wouldn't normally be considered able to do. He is eager, but not reckless. To him, everything is a lesson, though he knows he may not understand it until later on in life.

History: Roberto was the second child to be born to Annetta and Massimo Castiglione. A few days after he was born, they realised there was something wrong with their son. Oh, he seemed happy enough, but did not respond to auditory stimuli. Caterina, his older sibling by seven years, doted on him though, and by the time Roberto was mobile, the two were inseparable. Indeed, Caterina did her utmost to help her younger brother, interpreting things on his behalf, and slowly but surely they developed a sign language through which they could communicate.
Seeing this, his parents, knowing that Roberto would stand to inherit, made sure that Caterina knew that her place would always be by her brother's side and charged her to help him in any way possible. To this end, they both learned to read and write several languages. Caterina learned how to speak them, whilst Roberto learned how to lipread, though he was by no means fluent, enough to get the gist, at least.
Both children loved learning, much to their parents' delight and relief. Roberto seemed to have been born with an insatiable desire to explore the world around him, and though his early years were fraught with mishaps and mistakes, the Castigliones soon learned that there was little point in keeping their son in swaddling. The fact that he could not hear did not seem to faze him at all.
Both children went to Tiberium to study, Caterina, as always, Roberto's shadow. Translating for him, being his confidante and, on occasion, a wiser head. Returning home, via a number of the city states, the siblings settled back in with their parents for a time. Soon, however, they felt the urge to explore further and have made their foray into the bordering land of Terre D'Ange.
