Appearance: Auri is a small girl, shorter than most d'Angeline women. She doesn't come across as frail or weak however, a aura of something other seeming contained in her small size. Her hair is a deep brown and her eyes a blue-gray that sometimes seem to change tint based on their surroundings. She has a face that can speak power when she wants, but can also calm and comfort her most troubled Patrons.
Personality: Auri is an odd girl, even for one of Gentian house. She is sometime seen walking around Gentian, mumbling to herself, and moving objects here and there. She has been known to completely rearrange an assignation room to better suit her patrons in a way that makes sense to no one but her. She never offers explanation, just smiles and says she just likes things a certain way. She is kind to everyone, occasionally leaving gifts for other adepts, even those she barely knows. Some of these gifts are what one would expect and at other times they are odd, a potato just showing up outside of one's door and other such oddities. Though many find her strange, Auri is liked by many, mostly because of her non-judgmental kindness.
History: Auri is the child of two Gentian parents who fell in love and left the house when they made their marks. Her parents, Gratien and Guenièvre Roche opened up their own salon. Their practice just soothed troubled souls with relaxing baths and oils. They had seen enough of the darkness that sometimes troubled dreams and left that part of Gentian behind. After a few years they lit a candle and were blessed with a chubby baby girl. They had two more kids after, keeping their children close in age.
Auri was an unusual child from day one. She was born making not a sound, she just looked around with her big blue eyes. A tidy little swat from the midwife didn't produce a cry either.
As she grew Auri stayed a quiet baby and toddler, rarely crying and never having tantrums. Her quirk of rearranging things started very young. As soon as she had enough strength to pick things up and crawl then across the floor she did. It was not a constant thing, but on occasion she would insist that a certain thing just had to stay in a certain spot. Mostly these wants were harmless and the family put up with it graciously.
Auri's family just thought she was odd, until the girl turned five years of age. Her Uncle was visiting and had a nightmare. He woke to find little blue eyes watching him. She asked him who the large scary dog from his dream was.
Auri only had one more occasion where she saw another's dream before her family took her to Gentian. This was her own mother. She had been troubled by unknown dreams. Auri stole into her room at night and slept under her parents' bed. When she woke she told her mom that she was going to have another baby, but that the pregnancy would be painful. Guenièvre had asked for one more child, but the pregnancy had been difficult so far and she had put off informing her kids. Auri was 8 at the time. Her parents waited until she was 10 to take her to the Dowayne, who was more than happy to train the odd little girl.
Auri took well to life at Gentian. She already had some knowledge from her parents' salon. She had her quirks, but she was all also skilled. She was given extra lessons in the adept skills that had to do with basic interactions and curtsies. The only area she seemed to excel in was that of unobtrusive movement, seeming to blend in with the background at times. She was also punished whenever her rearranging went places it was not allowed. Auri managed to tone down her quirks and her Dowayne accepted her as a servant for Naamah on Auri's 16th natal. Though some questioned this choice, Auri proved that she did well when Patron's needed comfort and she was willing to take on even the harshest or most disturbed Patrons.
The Dowayne always assigns his Patrons with care, but he does so doubly when sending them to Auri. He knows that some will benefit from her quirkiness while others would not take kindly to it. She has stayed steady and her assignations with the most troubled have given her some especially generous patron gifts on a few occasions. Due to those generous patrons Auri's mark is 2/3rds complete already.
