Appearance: 5 ft 9, Zoe's form is fit and slender, and not as curvaceous as she'd like it to be. Her brown hair hangs around her face in waves to her shoulders and hazel eyes eyes regard the world with a mixture of warmth, confidence, curiosity and insecurity. Her skin is clear and she is thankful that her d'Angeline bloodline means she never has to shave. Her jaw is a strong one, but her lips, chin and nose help soften the lines of her features.
Her voice is husky and masculine sounding, which she's quite self-conscious about and so she tries to speak as quietly as possible.
Personality: All at once determined and insecure, Zoe finds it hard to strike a balance. Outwardly, she does her best to put her best foot forward and will act like the life of the party and as confident in her skin as she wants to be. Inwardly, she isn't nearly so confident as she appears, though she certainly feels far more outgoing and self-assured than she used to be in her old life. Now she feels like she's emerging from her shell - tentatively, but with more and more hopeful optimism as time goes by. She's open, as open and as honest as anyone can be. Willing to talk about anything with anyone.

History: Born the eldest of three sons, Gael was a healthy baby. The son of a minor Eisande lord and his wife, Gael didn't want for much, even though they weren't the richest of families. His parents arranged the best education that they could for their children, teaching them to be as well-rounded as possible. There were two years between each sibling as their parents had planned out things accordingly. In fact, that was a theme of their upbringing. Their parents planned their own and their children's lives to the nth degree. From the moment they rose in the morning to the allocated bedtime, their lives were planned almost to the minute.
They both firmly felt that they were teaching their sons about the way of the world, to appreciate what they had and to act accordingly. Their planning even progressed as far as their sons' futures. Gael was to take over the running of their small estate, his marriage was arranged by the time he was twelve. An advantageous match, his parents felt, with a daughter of the neighbouring Lord. They would wed after their sixteenth natales, it was decided - decided, that was, without Gael, or indeed his would-be-wife's knowledge. Gael's next oldest brother would join the Cassilines and his youngest brother would also secure an advantageous match, though they had yet to find one suitable.
Understandably, the three boys acted out on occasion. Covering for one another or even dropping each other in it, as brothers are wont to do. Their parents even had punishments pre-planned and meted out for each transgression. They firmly subscribed to the 'tough love' standard of parenting and neither liked it when things did not go the way they foresaw.
When Gael first began expressing his thoughts about being a girl, her parents pooh-poohed it as a phase. Something that he'd grow out of. Then when it didn't appear to be the case, it was assumed that he was acting out at the idea of being wedded to someone he did not know well, and with no choice. Even though his parents insisted it would be a marriage of convenience - their money would join with her lands to the benefit of both families - and they could love or do whatever they liked once they were wed, Gael persisted that she was a woman. When his middle brother went dutifully to train as a Cassiline, he was held up as an example of how a good and dutiful son should behave.
This made Gael withdraw into himself, but he... she... did not give in to her parents' wishes, punishments or pleas. She was a woman, a fact she firmly believed, despite her body's form and who her family thought she was. Eventually the marriage was called off and Gael was sent to the city in the hope that he would get his bizarre desires out of his system for once and for all.
Contrary to her parent's hopes, Gael did the opposite. She renamed herself Zoe, began buying and wearing dresses, make-up, jewellery. It got to the stage where her family, realising that Gael would not fall in line, even threatened to cut him off from his inheritance. Zoe responded by changing her surname and telling them to feel free. She was happy as she was, and didn't want to revert to her old life. Fortunately, she had a trust fund that her parents did not have control over and has been using that to live on - as long as she is careful, she can live quite comfortably.
