Character Avatar: Marion Cotillard

Character Name: Rosine Hallowell
Age: 36
Rank/Title: Possible future Barrone of Hallowell, represents her father at court in The City
Race: d'Angeline
Country/Province: L'Agnace
Townhome Request: East Borough > Fir District > Petit Rose' : A charming and cozy home where Ronsine hides away when she needs to think.
Player: Desdemona

Appearance: Rosine has thick brown hair that usually falls in soft waves and bright blue eyes. She wears her hair short for practical reasons. She has a face that speaks of innocence, but upon closer inspection there is something a bit more knowing behind her eyes. She smiles easily, but it is one that lets the person know that she isn't one to be taken lightly. She can drop the cool and smart woman act if needed and seem sweet, innocent, and naive when needed. She is of average height, 5'6".

Personality: Rosine is a woman of confidence and determination. She is not one to sit idly by as the world turns. She is a proper, but outspoken peer when attending formal events. If someone is acting poorly she is not scared to tell them as much. Though she dislikes when people truly hurt others, she is not uptight and will play as hard as she works. If she catches you stealing, or worse, she will try to stop you if she thinks she can.

History: Rosine was born to Colbert and Babette Hallowell. They had a small Baron near the northern end of L'Agnace near Namarre. Many generations ago the estate produced wine, along with occasional extra meat or produce from area farms. Four generations ago the Matriarch of the family imported a few grape varieties from Aragonia. She cross pollinated grapes from her local vineyards from those from Aragonia in controlled greenhouses. She experimented with them until she thought she had the perfect grape. The family started making wine with their new grapes, once they had enough plants. Other wine makers were curious about the grapes and once the bidder grew high enough she sold the grapes. The demand for the grapes grew for vineyards that wanted to add additional flavors to their selections. Demand grew and the Matriarch decided she could make more money selling the grapes. The vats used to let the wine ferment were sold and removed, making more room for more grape vines. In time the family started bottling condensed juice or seed pots for vineyards in other countries, as long as they were willing to pay. The family did well, though they were not especially rich, just very comfortable. This suited them, they brought good grapes to the world and could live very comfortably.

Rosine was born second and born into a world with a loving family. Her parents took care of them and she had her elder brother, Sable, dotted on her. Everything seemed perfect, but there were darker currents under the perfect family image. Babette was having an affair with her brother-in-law. The secret of it was part of the appeal for Babette. If Rosine had been older during this time, she may have found it odd that her Uncle Leroy was over almost constantly when her father was gone. However, as a young child she simply enjoyed the attention of another adult that cared for her and brought her gifts.

When Rosine was 7 her parents got into a very heated argument and Leroy was no longer allowed to visit. Things quieted down for a few months, but then Leroy returned and demanded that he be allowed to spend time with Babette. This time it was Babette who told Leroy to leave, not wanting to tear her family up over the affair. He did as he was asked, but returned a few nights later, when the family was sleeping, and killed Babette.

Though he was suspected, there was no prof that Leroy killed her and he was never tried. Colbert kept a distance from his brother for many years, but eventually Leroy was able to convince him that he had not killed her. It was possible that she was making love to a third man after all.

From Rosine's view she lost her mother and her Uncle at the young age of Seven. Her father developed a severe case of melancholy and she felt as if she had lost him as well. Her brother, Sable, was the only one she had left. The two became close and cared for each other. When Rosine turned 11 her Uncle returned and her father seemed to return from his melancholy a little. Though he was never again the same man. Things seem to get better, though Rosine would always miss her mom dearly.

Even with the tragedy marring her childhood, Rosine was a curious and intelligent child. The freedom given to her with her dad only being half there while she was younger allowed her to become a strong and confident young woman. She didn't fear authority figures and she was comfortable telling adults how things were. Her father didn't care enough to reprimand her when she was younger. When he became more himself and she was older he decided that he liked her strong personality and encouraged her

When Rosine was 15 her Uncle Leroy grew gravely ill. He started to hallucinate and he thought Kushiel was coming for him. During a heavy fever dream, while Rosine was looking over him, he confessed to killing her mother. Rosine thought at first that he was just responding to whatever illness ailed him, but he gave details that he wouldn't know if he hadn't seen her corpse or did the deed. Since Babette was killed in the family's home, the only way Leroy would have known the details is if he had killed her. His words chilled Rosine, but Leroy was dead only a few hours later from his illness and she decided not to tell her father. He and Leroy had gotten along well in Leroy's last few months and Rosine knew her father would have a hard enough time dealing with the death without adding such dark information.

Rosine pretended to morn her uncle for a month and then asked her father to send her to Caerdicca Unitas and to their schools. Though he was not as depressed as he had been after his wife's murder, Colbert was still somewhat depressed and decided he couldn't tell his daughter know. He was worried about her safety at the young age of 15 and sent her brother with her for protection. Sable was a young man and antsy, some time away from home would do him good.

While in the Tiberium schools Rosine took every class on logistics that she could. Her whole family had been duped by her Uncle for many years and she was determined to prevent anyone else from doing such a thing to her or her family again. While there she discovered that the Tiberium people had Magistrates and Praetors that helped to enforced the law. She started taking classes for those particular occupations, but found that much of their work was tedious. They mostly just argued about law and did not necessarily spend much of their time on the streets actually enforcing it, that was left up to the city guard. Rosine had no desires to become a Tiberium guard, if they would have let a woman take that role, which limited her from the classes she really wanted to take. She did find one logic professor that used crime for logical puzzles and she took his class every semester, until he told her politely that she needed to stop.

Sable and Rosine were given two years by their father to spend at the school. Just as Rosine was getting into her classes it seemed it was time for her to go home. Sable was at the age to find himself a wife and take on his role as his father's main heir. He took on that role and had less time for his baby sister. Rosine went through her father and local libraries reading books about politics, logic, and law. She had to learn some basics about the family lands, since she was the only other heir, but she still retained much of the freedom that she had as a child.

A year after returning home Sable married and started a family. Rosine grew bored with Sable busy with his family and her father busy with running the estates and making sure Sable was doing as he should. When she was 19 she asked her father to allow her to travel to Terre d'Ange under the guise of wanting to learn politics and how to be a proper noble wife. He agreed and sent her with a couple of his trusted men to make sure no harm came to her. She made herself at home and convinced her retainers within a few months that she could manage well enough on her own. They still hung around, but entertained themselves and let Rosine do as she pleased.

As soon as she truly had her freedom Rosine started wondering the streets, wanting to right wrongs, but not really knowing how. She didn't want to be a city guard for the City of Eula anymore than she had wanted to be for Tiberium. She wanted to be her own master and still track down those who thought it was their due to harm others. She didn't jump into the very first questionable act she saw, wanting to observe and learn first. But, one night, she found a man bleeding from a knife wound on the side of the road. That she did react to. She did what she could to keep him from bleeding too much and asked him what had happened before the City Guard had showed up. She got a decent description of the perpetrator and did pass the information off to the guard. He thought it was too vague to go after the man who had caused the injury, but Rosine did not want the foul deed to go unpunished.

This event finally gave Rosine a purpose in life. She visited the inn where the stabbing took place and asked questions. After two nights of being waved off as a nosy peer, she changed her look. She needed to look like a completely different person, so she hid her hair under a man's hat and wore a generic shirt and pants that was that of a scruffy worker. It worked, not only did she get some information but the perpetrator was pointed out to her. She had no real proof, so she made friends with the perp, still as a young working boy. Eventually she was able to get him drunk and gain a confession. She took this to the city guard and the man was arrested. When she told her story to the city guard they were both surprised and impressed. It was not every day that young noble women tracked down the city's scoundrels. Member's of the guard's upper command decided to use her to their advantage, though not before she was trained on how to properly defend herself.

After that she started a double life of sorts. She wrote her father and told him that she had acquired a job working for the Palace. She stayed vague on the details though, simply stating that she helped the City's Guard find people. She told him that she wanted to permanently live in the city, but that she was happy to run any errands here that he needed. He gave her no trouble, happy to have someone in place to lower the amount of traveling he had to do. He wasn't especially old, but he was in his 50s and it was time for him to start slowing down to keep his health good.

Starting a few days after her 20th natal Rosine started to take official missions from the City's Guard, learning information and tracking down wrong doers. She rarely brought them in herself, unless she could persuade them to more or less turn themselves in. She would find a mark, learn enough about them to predict where they would during the next day or two, and then turn them in. She was paid for her work from the city guards. That money plus the allowance she received from her father lets her live comfortably.

She had done this work for more than 15 years now. She is a known face at parliament and she often represents the Hallowell Baron, though her brother and occasionally her father, also attend. Some know that she also does something to help out the city or possibly the Crown, but not many know exactly what it is that she does. Throughout the years she has grown quite sophisticated in weeding out information from others. Often times her targets don't even realize who gave them up. She is usually able to do her job well enough as she is, a nameless female peer who isn't very high up on the peerage system. However, if the job requires a person of a different sort, she is able to disguise herself and fill in those roles.
