Appearance: With floppy blond hair, that darkens to strawberry blond in the winter, big blue eyes and pale flawless skin, Charlie cuts an angelic figure. He's healthy and lean. Active hobbies and good genetics means that he can eat what he likes without issue. He's a little on the short side for a d'Angeline, standing at 5'9, but he never seems to mind - more than making up for the (relatively) short stature with his personality. His features are expressive and he has a lovely wide smile.
Personality: Charlie is an eager and somewhat naive young man, who wants nothing more than to have friends and belong. As such he can be quite blind to people's flaws and motives. He's usually a happy soul and will try anything at least once. Always open to new experiences - especially if it means connecting to people. He's well-meaning, for the most part, but can also be thoughtless and selfish - used to, as he is, putting himself first. He is also free with both his affection and money - born from the need to have friends and relationships. He has had a few meaningful relationships, but they all dissolved after a while when he eventually realised they weren't with him for what he personally could offer them, but what money and influence he had access to, instead. Despite that, he's still far too trusting.

Family Members/Important NPCs: Two doting parents: Guillemette and Jean-Guy Courtemanche

History: A young Guillemette Renou met and fell in love with, the then heir to the Courtemanche baronnie, Jean-Guy at a mutual friend's party. It really was love at first sight for the couple, though Courtemanche's parents took a bit of convincing and did not warm to Guillemette for quite some time. Whilst Guillemette came from a minor noble family, they were not terribly wealthy, so Jean-Guy's parents were convinced that she was only after his sizeable inheritance. Inheriting, as he would in years to come, a Baronnie and a thriving wine business.
However, Jean-Guy and Guillemette persevered, and even the most distrusting of people could not deny that they were utterly smitten with each other. Begrudgingly the marriage was allowed, and a happy few years of wedded bliss followed. They decided to try for a child some years later and, to their joy, Guillemette bore a son. Complications with the pregnancy and the birth both, which Guillemette fortunately survived, meant that they mutually decided not to try again.
Their healthy and vital son was, however, without a name for a good few days before they settled on one for him. Both Jean-Guy and Guillemette had families which passed names down from generation to generation. So, family traditions being what they were, Jean-Guy and his wife decided to give their only child those names, one of each, since they had already decided not to have any more children. Which meant their new-born son was now saddled with the cumbersome name of Dulcelinus Chariulphe Courtemanche. Affectionately known by his immediate family as Dulce.
Dulce grew up being doted on, and spoiled... but very lonely. There were no children his age and status nearby, and he was actively discouraged not to play with the servant's children by his grandparents who were far more strict than his parents ever were. He was often left alone with them, as his parents travelled, learning and growing the family business. When his parents returned, they spoiled him with gifts and attention to make up for their absences. With the lack of peer interaction and the over-indulgence of his parents, he became very selfish and nearly always got his own way. He was taught by governesses and tutors - who almost universally agreed that, whilst he was eager to learn and to please, he was not the brightest of students. Thankfully Dulce's parents listened to their son's tutors when they said that he needed the influence of his peers, as well as life outside the relatively small community they lived in, and soon Dulce found himself sent off to the university in Tiberium.
He was a confident sort, and was not afraid to undertake this journey - but swiftly found he had a lot of growing up to do. He learned a lot more than just in the academic sense, especially in his first year. For one, he soon learned to introduce himself as Charlie, as opposed to Dulce, and earned the nickname of 'Courtney' from the friends he became close to. He learned not to be quite as selfish, and that he couldn't always get his own way - and a few fights hammered that lesson home. In short, going to university was one of the best things he ever did.
It gave him the chance to explore and learn, both about himself and interacting with his peers. The three years or so he spent there knocked a few chips off his shoulder, smoothed some of the rough edges and in general made him a better person all around - which, all in all, made his parents believe that it was money well-spent, even if he didn't graduate anywhere near the top of his class.
University over, he returned home and spent the next year feeling lonely and bored again, until his parents sent him to the Capital, to be amongst more people and he's spent the time going from party to party and bed to bed. Always searching for that meaningful connection.
