Character Name: Ruadhán Clelland (pronounced Roo-ahn)
Age: 32
Birthday: 21st August 1993
Height: 5'11
Rank/Title: Citizen
Race: Eiran
Country/Province: Eire

Townhome Request: N/A
Country Home Request: N/A

Appearance: Ruadhán's a tall-ish, well-built man, with a thick mane (there really is no other way to describe it) of curly russet brown hair that hangs to his shoulders. In the summer it can develop streaks of dirty blond and darkens over winter. His eyes are an icy blue, framed by thick lashes in the same russet brown hue as his hair.

His skin is pale and peppered with freckles which liberally dust his face, chest, shoulders and upper arms, as well as lightly speckle the rest of his body. For a man that has spent the last two decades on the road, he's not in too bad of shape, though his skin also bears the odd scar here and there thanks to Ru's propensity to be able to talk himself into a fight... or lose his temper... or just scrap for the fun of it.

He mostly tries to keep clean-shaven, difficult as that is on the road but, then again, his facial hair isn't so thick and dark as to be overly noticeable if he doesn't get to shave for a few days.

Personality: Ruadhán is a man of many promises and tales. He's mercurial, full of charm and imagination, with a quick tongue and wit. What he tells you could easily be the truth... or not, or anything in between. He's a lover, talker and scrapper. Any of those is just as likely to be used to get him into, or out of trouble.

He loves his country and Eiran roots, for all he was eager to get away, and won't hear a word said against it. Mind you, that also goes for Alba and, now, Terre D'Ange. He'll also leap to the defence of his friends and family without much provocation... as well as the man he was drinking with, the lass he recently slept with, or even a complete stranger, all with equal verve and fire.

Ruadhán suffers from one awful affliction: the Fear Of Missing Out. It drives him to seek new experiences and get involved with almost anything. He'll often try anything once - twice if he can, just to be sure whether he likes it or not.

Though not formerly educated, he's a quick study and quick witted... he also has a long memory, which he mostly uses to store a vast number of tales and songs - not to mention avoid people and places he's not keen on repeat experiences with.

History: Ruadhán grew up in a loving, large, hardworking family. His pa owned a farm and all the family were expected to help out on it... as soon as the children were old enough to lift a pail they were given tasks to milk the cows or help harvest the crops. No one got to shirk out their duties - though Ruadhán surely tried.

Though they farmed a fair bit of land, the Clellands were not rich. Everything the family owned was patched and home-made, with clothing usually handed down from brother to brother. Mend and make-do was their motto. The elder of Ruadhán's brothers was fine with this, happy to lend a hand, cheerfully accepting his lot in life. So, too, did his younger brothers. The evening meals were usually full of discussions about the viability of this crop or that, the milk yield of the cows, or the possibility of owning their own farms, in the case of the children. All except for Ruadhán that was. That was boring talk. He wanted to talk about the land, the sea, the sky... anything else but farming.

He did not want to be a farmer.

He hated the stinky cows, and getting splattered with muck. He chafed at having to get up before the sun and walk for miles in mud. He disliked having to work in all weathers. He dreamed of bigger and better things. Of exploring the wide world out there - which he'd heard tales about from the odd traveller that passed by the farm. His parents, as loving as they were, were convinced he'd grow out of the fascination of what lay beyond their borders and become settled in time.

By his sixteenth year, he'd had enough; that big wide world was calling. So, when the next travelling merchant called by, Ruadhán packed his meagre belongings and left his homestead behind. Eager to see the world beyond the farm's boundaries and leave the stinky farm behind. His family, sad to see him go and worried about how he'd fare, reassured themselves that Ruadhán would get the travelling itch out of his feet soon enough and return home to them.

Over a decade on, Ruadhán still hasn't returned home, though he has, when he remembered, sent word in their direction to let them know he was safe and healthy. Instead, he toured the entirety of Eire, making his way doing odd jobs and chores, or using the innate charm he'd previously used to persuade one of his brothers to do his chores with. He learned tales and myths, and how to spin a yarn. One year, he joined a travelling musician and learned how to play the Timpan (an tiompán.). Once he'd seen all he cared to of Eire, he crossed the water to Alba, and travelled the land there, picking up more tales and songs to sing, and becoming more proficient with his Timpan - he's not the best musician in the world, but he can hold a tune and he spins tales and sings songs with such animation it makes up for any lack of skill.

Once he had his fill of the Albans, and felt he'd seen and done all he wanted, he again boarded a boat - this time to the land of Terre D'Ange. There he stayed by the ports, learning the language as best as he could, and when he felt he'd got a decent command of the language, began making ingress into the country proper. Never stopping somewhere for too long, always fascinated by what lay over the next hill, or in the next town.
