Appearance: Ashlin is the youngest sister of the Mackenzie family of Innisclan. She is slight and almost frail in appearance with long brown hair that resists the simplest of styles. Her green eyes accent the peach hues of her cheeks. Her whole delicate appearance is set off by her very full lips. She is stronger than she looks and has even learned rudimentary fighting skills with a dagger and sword. This has mostly added to her grace and fluidity of movement, and to the slightly rough calluses on her hands, rather than to any great skill.

Personality: Ashlin is a confidant young woman who knows her own mind and has a positive outlook on life. The youngest of 9 in a family of mostly boys, she has something of a tomboy streak herself that keeps her from being spoiled or entitled. Instead, she is mostly just sheltered and naive but with an adventurous side that makes her willing to try most things at least once. She has a fascination with all things D'Angeline and has made sure to be trained in graceful dances and ways of moving so that she is able to blend in with the court.

Strengths and Weaknesses:Despite all her apparent delicacy and grace, Ashlin has a firey personality that can lead to a frightful temper, and true insults are never forgiven or forgotten. She also shares her parents' desire for family power back home and her mother's love of the finer things in life. Used to being loved and protected, she is quite naive, especially in the matters of the physical. Thanks to one brother or another always managing to be around who all kept a sharp eye out and glared down anyone who even looked too long at her, so no one had ever dared approach her. Much to her dismay.

History: Growing up, Ashlin was the youngest of nine siblings~ seven brothers and one sister. Early on she showed she had a knack for languages and had a quick, adaptable mind. She also loved adventure and was always getting into trouble if not watched. Therefore she found she was often taken along with her brothers to their studies to keep her out of trouble, but she listened carefully to their tutors from the back of the room where she easily blended into the background. She knew how to keep still and observe when needed. Sometimes if a topic interested her, she brought her dolls to play with next to her older brothers while they studied, effectively hiding in plain sight, and gaining a broad education. In this way she has become fluent in D'angeline but still speaks it with an accent. She also learned Skaldi, geography, strategy, very basic math and literature.

Ashlin is close with her entire family, especially her sister who places 5th in the family's lineup of children, just a few years older than herself. Her older brothers have always watched out for the younger siblings, all of them playing together growing up. All the boys doted on their two sisters. But now her older sister, Ansley, has married. Now she lived a little over a day's travel away from the family home, and was expecting her first child. Her brothers for the most part were also married with families and Ashlin has become bored at home.

In a somewhat amusing way, being stuck with only her parents was even worse. They were so madly in love, not just as evidenced by the number of children they had produced, but by every action and movement. All the time. It was the way they seemed to fall into eachothers' eyes from across the room, or brush hands tenderly while they heard petitions and grievances. And the whole household knew sweet touches turned into something quite different when they could sneak into a dark corner. Ashlin could never decide if she should laugh or roll her eyes at the constant byplay. But deep inside her heart she prayed she would find a love as enduring.

Despite their happy home, Ashlin's father desired more power for himself and the family, and her mother always loved opulence and all things D'Angeline. Ever since the first D'Angelines had arrived the rich lifestyle of the continent had become more and more a part of the more rustic style typical of the Albian nation. Those who could afford it gathered in as many exotic D'Angeline pieces to add to their lives as they could. The Mackenzie family had one of the largest know collections in Innisclan.

Gunthar, Ashlin's father, is now looking to expand his lands, wealth, and power. So he has hatched a plan that he hopes will increase his own holdings and allow him to continue to spoil his wife as he so loves doing. He also hopes his idea will be prosperous for his bright and increasingly bored daughter. So now, Ashlin has been sent by her family to attempt to build alliances within the D'Angeline Court and military for the family. They hope that one day they will be able to use those alliances to gain further control of the region of Alba that surrounds them.
